Pastor Rick began serving the Lord at the age of 18 as a youth pastor. In 1979, he received a B.A. from Howard Payne University in Brownwood, TX, and in 1982, he received his MDiv (Masters in Divinity Degree) from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Forth Worth, Texas.
While in college, he was a Music major until the Lord made it clear to him that the call he had received was to be a preacher. He then changed his major from Music to Practical Theology. Rick had served as a Worship Ministry Leader, but also comes from a long line of ancestors who were called to be ministers of the Word of God. His great-great grandfather was a “circuit riding preacher” (rode his horse from church to church) and pastored three churches at the same time. He also had three uncles and one cousin who individually served as pastors, one served as a missionary and one as an army chaplain.
Rick moved to San Antonio in 1982 to be the pastor of a church. Through the years, he has served as youth pastor, associate pastor, and lead pastor of various churches in Texas. He strongly believes in and is committed to glorifying God by loving Him with all that he is and does and by proclaiming the Gospel (good news) of the Kingdom of God.
Rick is married to Mari who is originally from Puerto Rico. Mari is a graduate of New York Technical College in Brooklyn, New York. With the goal of becoming a physician, she continued her education at the Long Island University (NY). Her plans to become a physician changed in 1984 when the Lord called her into ministry. In 1985, by the leading of the Holy Spirit, she moved to San Antonio, TX. She has served in various ministries as a teacher, deacon, leader of Porter (Usher) Ministry, prayer counselor, Freedom/Deliverance Ministry counselor, and singer in Music Ministry. In the past, she has also served as a church secretary and bookkeeper.
They strongly believe that we are to be a community of believers (Jew & Gentile) that gathers together to worship the Lord, to study His Word, to pray and to fellowship. We are to make disciples of children, young people and adults who will develop into all that the Lord has destined them to become.
Every person has a purpose, and through the guidance and teaching of the Holy Spirit, we are to help others discover it and live it out!
